What Are Hospice Services?

Hospice services are medical services designed to give you the best possible life when curative medicine is either no longer possible or comfort becomes the main focus. Hospice care focuses on providing comfort, pain management, and emotional support rather than curative treatments. The goal is to enhance the quality of life for patients and support them in their end-of-life journey.

American River Hospice Services is a home hospice provider that delivers services designed to help patients live the greatest quality of life. Our end-of-life care gives patients the ability to pass away at home, in a place of comfort, when they’re ready to go. We have a wide range of services that include:

  • Nursing
  • Speech Therapy
  • Physical Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Medical Social Work
  • Spiritual Counseling
  • Bereavement Services
  • Hospice Aide & Homemaker Services
  • Volunteer Services
  • Registered Dietitian
  • Medication Support
  • Medical Equipment (Walker, Bed, Oxygen, and More)

We also have companions that can keep you or your loved ones company so that they feel less alone, and we have access to our own pharmacy to help make sure our patients are getting the medication they need. We help our patients be as active and comfortable as possible, so that they know that they’re leaving in a way that is respectful and designed around them.

We also respect that different cultures may have specific requests with end of life care. We will always do our best to support those requests, including allowing the person to pass on in their cultural outfits, wrapping in a cultural blanket, or calling in a spiritual specialists to provide prayers when a person is on their final moments. We may not be able to respond to every request, but we will always do our best.

End of Life Option Act

In addition to our hospice services, we recognize the importance and value of the End of Life Option Act, and have that available to our patients for those that qualify. The End of Life Option Act allows those that meet specific conditions related to their terminal illness to end life on their own terms. Anyone choosing the End of Life Option Act will be supported by our very same hospice team, and given what they need to pass on with dignity.
